How AccountKit handles personal information
A plain-English overview of how we collect, use, store and protect your information and your clients’ information. The published Privacy Policy governs.
AccountKit Pty Ltd (ACN 600 935 813) is committed to respecting privacy rights under the Australian Privacy Principles, the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the GDPR where applicable, and other relevant privacy laws. This is a plain-English overview of the AccountKit Privacy Policy. The full Privacy Policy and legal agreements are authoritative. See also the Terms of Use and the Data Processing Agreement.
What we collect
AccountKit may collect the details needed to provide and support the service, including contact and account details, billing information, device and connection information, service usage information, enquiry details and information supplied through customer surveys or support requests.
Our services may also store personal information submitted by customers about their clients, such as contact, taxation, accounting and financial information. Customers are responsible for ensuring they are authorised to provide that information.
Why we use it
We use information to provide, administer, secure and improve AccountKit; respond to enquiries and support requests; process billing; communicate important service changes; and meet legal obligations. Marketing communications are sent only where permitted by law, and recipients can opt out through the communication or by contacting us.
Customer and client data
AccountKit may act as a controller for information it collects directly about users, and as a processor for personal information customers place in the service. When acting as a processor, AccountKit processes customer data on the customer’s instructions and in line with the Data Processing Agreement.
Customers retain ownership of their data. Underlying documents held in a connected document management system remain in that system.
Cookies and logs
AccountKit uses cookies and similar technology to make the website and services work, remember preferences, understand use, protect access and improve the experience. Browser settings can be used to delete or reject cookies, though some parts of the service may not work as expected.
This website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful, and HubSpot’s tracking code so that, if you contact us or book a meeting, the team can see which pages you visited first. Both set cookies, and both load only once you start using the page.
Like most online services, our servers record technical information such as IP address, browser type, referring pages and interactions with the service. We use this information for security, monitoring, analysis and diagnosis, and retain it only as long as needed for those purposes.
Booking a demo
When you book a demo, the calendar on our contact page is HubSpot Meetings, run by HubSpot, the customer relationship system the AccountKit team uses. The details you enter there (your name, email and your answers to the booking questions) go to HubSpot with the page you booked from. We use them to prepare for and follow up your demo, keep them for as long as we need them to support you as a prospect or customer, and delete them if you ask. If you opt in to other communications, we’ll also send you product news, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
Keeping data safe
AccountKit applies reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information against unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. Users are required to enable two-factor authentication, and should use strong passwords and the security controls available in the service.
No internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. If we discover a relevant security breach, we will notify affected people at the first reasonable opportunity as required by applicable law.
Sharing and international transfers
We may disclose information to trusted service providers and subprocessors where necessary to provide the service, including hosting, infrastructure, payments, analytics, communications and integrations. They must process information for the disclosed purpose and meet applicable privacy obligations.
AccountKit is based in Australia and personal information processed through the service is primarily stored in Australia. Where information is transferred internationally, AccountKit applies appropriate safeguards required by relevant privacy laws. Information shared with a customer-selected integration is also subject to that provider’s terms and privacy policy.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to access or correct personal information AccountKit holds about you, and may have additional rights to deletion, portability, objection or restriction depending on your jurisdiction. AccountKit will respond within a reasonable timeframe and explain in writing if a request cannot be fulfilled.
For full detail about retention periods, Google API data, jurisdiction-specific rights and complaint options, read the full Privacy Policy.
